There are 500 plus cultivars of this plant but there is quite a lot of similarity between these cultivars. The characteristics that are different in these cultivars are due to the preference of consumers and the market value of the fruit. The growers focus on the size of the fruit and the color of the exocarp. The exocarp of the fruit can be red, pink, or even purple.
