The Arabian coffee flower is the national flower of Yemen.

Arabian Coffee Flower Information:

The plants that grow in the wild can range up to 40 feet in height and they portray an open branching system. Leaves are arranged in an opposite manner and they are simple.

The shape is elliptic to oblong and they range in length from 6 to 12 cm. They are dark and glossy in appearance. Flowers are white in color and they have a diameter of 10 to 15mm. The growth pattern for these flowers in axillary clusters.

Seeds are formed in a drupe which is called a cherry and is 10 to 15 mm in diameter. The drupe is red to purple in color and it contains two beans. These are coffee beans.

The Arabian coffee plant is a polyploid species as it contains 4 copies of chromosomes as compared to 2 copies that other diploid species contain. It is formed by the hybridization of two species that are Coffea canephora and Coffea eugenioides.
